Antique Tibetan Fire Mecha or Mechak: A traditional match striker crafted with intricate detail, featuring a leather flint pouch and purse lighter. This unique piece combines functionality and history, used for fire-starting in Tibetan culture. A rare collector’s item and a testament to timeless craftsmanship.
Mechak is the Tibetan term for fire tools. The leather pouch is designed to hold a piece of flint and some combustible fluff. The flint is struck against the iron blade, creating sparks that ignite the fluff.
The Mechak is adorned with traditional Tibetan motifs, intricately chiseled in sterling silver and brass, and topped with a turquoise and coral ( 1 stone is missing as shown in the picture) Made with yak skin and finished with a large trapezoidal iron plate. Traditionally worn on a belt by nomadic Tibetans in a remote part of Tibet.
